February 27

Dear Families,
Today we listened to a story called Russell the Sheep and answered questions about the story. Being able to ask questions and get answers when reading stories is very important.
We read independently in our book nooks to practice our reading.
For word work, we practiced making words.
We finished this week finding Tulsa on our maps!
Being able to tell others where we live has been our Social Studies objective this week!
We went to library and got new books!

*Book Fair--The book fair will be open in the building E commons from February 27-March 13. We will go together as a class to shop on Monday, March 2 so you can send money on the 2nd! Please do not send money before the 2nd or it will be returned. 

*Read across America--Read across America will take place on March 2. Students are welcome to come dressed as their favorite book character and bring their favorite books to read. 

*We will not have school on March 6 as well as March 16-20.

Dear Families,
Today we got to go to extra centers because we had a late start day! (Joshua)
In math we talked about class collections and how our collections grow over time. 
We found out as our collections grow our number gets BIGGER! (Dillion)
In our Earth packets we found our country The United States of America and our state of Oklahoma! (Do)

Dear Families,
For word work, we found words that end with the p sound. (Miguel)
We worked on our time when stories during writing workshop! (Lily) Some of our kids have started a new story!
We learned about number grids and found numbers on our own grids! (Ja'Von)
We got to go to the ABLL Lab and did our new exercises. (Cerenity)
We colored the 13 colonies on our map today.  ( Khai )

Today we found where we live on Earth! (Jesus)
We sorted words that started with the letter "P" and ended with the letter "P". ( Colton )
Today we worked on our Time When Stories! ( Ester )
In Math today we learned a new game with dice that helped us make two digit numbers. ( Matt )

Dear Families,
This has been a busy short week!
Today we worked on writing words by sounding them out! 
We wrote about a community helper we like.
We reviewed numbers in the teens (10-19) and talked about 2 digit numbers.
We talked about the difference between volunteer and paid jobs.
We got to go to library today!
Thanks to everyone that sent in box tops this week! Today was the last day of our collection!
We are reviewing class expectations daily since we are seeing a rise in student misbehavior. Your reinforcement of appropriate behavior is greatly appreciated.

Today we learned about President George Washington. (Dillan) We compared him to Abraham Lincoln.
We went to the Abl Lab! (Aairel)
We compared George Washingtons Life to our Lives and sorted pictures. (Chanakya)
We made a Cherry Tree! (Daniel) It helps us remember "The Legend of the Cherry Tree" and how George Washington is honest.

Dear Families,
In word work,we practiced making words! (Makiah) Students used their own letters to make 3 letter words.
We talked about the teens! (Rowan) Teens are numbers that start with a 1! (10...19)
We also practiced counting by 2's! (Alyssa) 
We made a Lincoln star! (Gage) We glued our pennies on our stars if we brought them to school today!!
Tomorrow we will eat birthday snacks from Aariel. You do not need to bring snacks tomorrow unless your child does not want a cupcake.

Dear Families,
In word work today we practiced putting letters together to make words! (Nicole)
In Writing Workshop we started writing our Time When Stories. (Do) We started by drawing our illustrations!
In math we counted pennies to see how many pennies items needed. Please help your child find a penny at home and bring it to school tomorrow! We will make something with our pennies!
Today we made our Valentine's Bags! Please continue to help your child make Valentine Cards for classmates and bring them by Thursday! I sent an email earlier with our class list! We have 24 kids!

Class Information:
1. We have until Wednesday to  return class book order forms in envelopes EVEN if you do not want to buy a book. Just check the box by NO if you do not want a book and return in the envelope! Once I get these books in I will send them home!

This morning we had a high school student read to us and bring us our donuts!
We read in our book nooks to practice our independent reading!
We pretended to be inventors! We used different shapes to make something!
We then wrote about our invention!
In math we played a counting game!
We went to library and got new books!

Class Information:
1. We have until next week to  return class book order forms in envelopes EVEN if you do not want to buy a book. Just check the box by NO if you do not want a book and return in the envelope! Once I get these books in I will send them home!

Dear families,
We worked on finding the ending sounds in words! (Miguel)
We read stories and started a movie in indoor recess and saw they all have a beginning, middle, and end! (Matt)
In math we practiced counting forward and backward. (Joshua) Counting on and back from different numbers was challenging! To practice counting at home, please complete Home Link 7-7 from math booklets!
Today we learned about inventors! (Ja'Von) We found out some inventors create new things and some make things better!

Class Information:
1. Please return class book order forms in envelopes this week EVEN if you do not want to buy a book. Just check the box by NO if you do not want a book and return in the envelope! Once I get these books in I will send them home!

2.Tomorrow is the Dynamic Dads meeting. After we will get donuts from our dads! (Sorry for any confusions today!)

We talked about machines.

We did an ABC dot to dot. (Chanakya) Once we put the letters in order our picture was complete!
We got to go outside for recess after lunch! (Dillan)
We learned how to play the penny plate game! (Gage) Tomorrow we will play the game with a partner!
We sorted pictures of land, air, and water vehicles! (Alyssa)

Today is Groundhog's Day! (Cerenity)
We found out the groundhog saw his shadow! (Colton)
We looked at our predictions from last week and most of us were wrong in our guesses! 
We are talking about transportation and how things go! (Do)
In math, we graphed our favorite kind of transportation! (Rowan)
